Fitting one of these for a customer tomorrow, you want to see the horrible waste that comes with it. I was going to sack it off and bang a McAlpine adjustable trap in there but after looking up the vanity basin online it looks like I'll have to fit the ikea waste because anything else will get in the way of the drawers that sit about 2 inches from the bottom of the basin. Will try and take a couple of photos tomorrow if I remember.

I fitted a kitchen sink from there, what a fucking thing that was, there's a flexi pipe that you can't cut down and there's no way you can make it run downhill and it looks shit and takes a lot of room up in the cupboard, the lady said, " can't you make it smaller" I said " yea, I'll throw it away and you can go buy another from a proper shop",, its still there,

Oh my actual god! What a mess that waste was. Here's a pic. The whole weight of the waste is hinged on the flimsy plug hole that screws down into it, whoever thought that up wants shooting. The unit and sink themselves are nice and well priced but the absolute mess underneath the sink lets it down. The waste starts at the plug hole, hits a 90 then some unknown diameter OVAL(!!) pipe goes back about a foot into a section for the overflow, then down to a bottle trap which is only held on by pushfit waste - again in some non UK diameter pipe. Then there's that beast of a flexi with properly flimsy ends that can't be trimmed because the ends are the only bits that will seal into the sockets of the trap and then where it joins to the waste coming out of the wall. The pipe is so stiff that you can't bend it anywhere it doesn't want to go without kinking it, it invariably goes uphill where it shouldn't. Because the horizontal part is oval there's no way to attach a UK trap on there and the very short run of pipe that goes into the top of the trap is about 1'' so another no-go for going with UK fittings from that point. I would of killed for a McAlpine to have fitted on there today.... Anyway the other flimsy end of the flexi waste doesn't fit into anything UK bought either, there's a UK adapter that you have to saw up to get the part you need for your waste pipe that would be fine if the flexi was a lot shorter. So it's 7pm, I'm quickly losing the will to breathe, end up saying to the customer that they need to go back to Ikea and get a much shorter flexi and a coupler for the end of it that will go on a UK waste pipe. I've literally plopped the end of the flexi loosely into their waste pipe so that they can very carefully brush their teeth tomorrow morning....

Oh and I'm thinking of using one of these if Ikea can't help and putting it where the trap should be then using UK stuff from there.
