If it leaks, say air, it'd blow a bubble. Toms for ever blowing bubbles pretty bubbles in the air, they fly so high.

I've heard the term ' slating ' a joint, i asked what it was he said, " if you get a weep on an iron threaded joint, knock a little bit of slate in the weeping bit, the little bit of slate expands and cures it" I've never tried it, YET, Yes, that was it.

thanks Dick, I might take this one a stage further, We all know ptfe is the proper thing to use, but ptfe has its limitations, for instance , if you back a fitting off with ptfe, it will leak, I'm gonna put chewing gum to the same test,
