These would be good for the ‘hard of thinking’ fitting a new zone valve & not wanting to go into the spaghetti junction box BD. They could kill the power, snip the cable of the old ZV & connect the new one👍👍

its a good thing to have Dr B but its a bit on the expensive side for a tight wad like me, I'd use my bolster for nothing,

thats a good point Dr B and it also keeps the heat on the back of the joint so it is a good tool to have, But I can get a lot of tins of Carling for £21, smiley-eatdrink009drinking

When working on vehicle wiring harness - The gas soldering iron I use has this facility and it really works great on heat shrinking items compared to when not using it, so well worth a punt.

Ive been away from plumbing a long time( just Been on gas only) however I’m now doing both, All the tips on here have been great by all 👍my tip I’ve just started doing ,is when refitting a close coupled cistern, a nice blob of grease on the metal/rubber washer , will hold it in place on the thread handsfree . and make it a lot easier to get wing nut on when in a tight spot, the beauty of this is , it will prevent rusting up aswell for when you swap the syphon again in couple of years, win win
