Today on our ward, we had a patient admitted at 6:15pm. Straight after teatime, when we're at our fookin busiest , getting patients turned, cleaned up, toileted and (some of them) ready for bed. Admitting a patient means we have to take a set of observations, weigh them, check their pressure areas (arses and heels etc), fill in a patient property form (going through and counting every item they have brought into hospital, get their bed ready for them, feed and water them too. We have 4 bays of 4 patients (and two side rooms with one patient in each) 3 of the bays are what are called "cohort" bays, where there has to be at least one member of staff at all times. So on my team there's a nurse and 2 HCA's. Nursy is doing her medication round at 6 pm, so when she comes into the cohort bay , us two HCA's use the opportunity to go into the other bay and see to the patients in there. First patient we get to is wetter than Michael Phelps after the 200m Butterfly race. Just seeing to this patient when another HCA comes round telling me there's a patient in the cohort bay that wants to go to the fookin toilet. I asked her what she was doing,, " Oh, I'm down the other end of the ward.." I reminded her that if she was "down the other end of the ward." she wouldn't have time to come up here to tell us that a patient needed the toilet, and why oh why didn't she just take the patient? Fookin planks they are. Have time to wander down one end of the ward , but not the time to actually take a patient to the fookin toilet. Honestly, some of my colleagues want a bloody bomb up their arses at times. There's one HCA, I'm sure she has to frig herself off in the morning to get her heart beating.

JJ some people think their wages is actually paid attendance money and work comes at an extra cost but not in normal working hours.

Today I have been mostly setting up a bathroom for a new suite to go in tomorrow. The shower cubicle was installed with more silicone than I've ever seen. So spent most of my time with a stanley blade cleaning it all off the rough tiles. Didn't notice it was wearing my fingernail down until it was too late... Beginning to hurt a bit as it dries up now Attachment Deleted
