Went to a job gas leak
Was capped off yesterday
Used analyser to find leak, compression fitting, fitted new, another nut leaking, pasted & tightened
Tested again, all quiet
Excellent job
Job no 3 for my gas portfolio
It'll take time but enjoying it

well done rocket always remember, A plumber can do gas but a gas head can't do plumbing, they are a semiskilled operatives with certificates, they think they are god but in reality they're not fit to tie our boot laces,,,

I'll remember that Tom
That shitty bathroom job starts tomorrow
Is the general bath height from floor 545mm?
Just going to rip the old bathroom out, hack tiles off wall, tidy up & see what we're left with.
We've got 3 days to remove, fit & some paint, tile, lino floor.
It's stinking, really is.

I usually set bath height to 21 inches as thats the standard bath panel size, the thing to watch for is whether the trap will fit under the bath, you may have to go higher if they don't supply a shallow bath trap, Sometimes you've no option but knock a hole in the floor for a trap so if you need to do that, do it before you've connected the bath, its impossible with the bath in,

I also learned how to swap a gas meter
To be honest there's not much to it
Also, just tightness test before each job & after.
Simple stuff
I was on another forum which I don't frequent anymore & it was all scaremongering, hard to be gas safe etc.
All Bollox
It's achievable, take time, do it right etc.
Haven't done flues, etc. Which will need study but a gas course can teach that & coupled with working on stuff it will all sink in.

I don't think it will be long now before plumbers will need a ticket to work on mains water and having to sign off what you've done after you've done the job.
I can see it now Dave does plumbing "Make sure that the plumber is WRS registered or else your mains water could become poisonous"!!
Frightening were all this will end.
The powers that be won't let go of this registration money maker that they've stumbled on now!!

I quite often practise swapping gas meters in my own drum, esp in the winter months, just incase like 6XqEngr88r5GlWolCJDi
