Drain down

Talking of draining down being a pain I had a nightmare a year or so ago, house full of real wood floors with pipes coming up needed to drain down and there's no drain off points and not enough room behind the pipes to get anything other than a towel on it so was a painfully slow process of cracking nuts.
I think we've all been there where you grab the wet bit and position your hand so that the water runs off your finger into a tub, or is that just me?
I got one of those plumbtubs the next day and wondered how I'd gone so long without one.
