I've tried the splitter on my scrap pile on all sorts size pipe/olives and it is effortless, money well invested I'd say.

I like 10mm battle and I've used it a lot over the yrs, heating systems work well on it if you use it right. The tool only works on 15mm upwards mate.

I struggle getting the 10mm Olives off I'm just too rough with me hacksaw - someone must use a simple tool like that?

the problem with 10mm pipe is, its a soft copper so the olives bite deep, its very rare to get one off, like you say battle the hacksaw can't get in the groove so easily and often you cut the pipe, best way is cut pipe and use a coupling further down,
