when i first started they were common place, I've cut loads and we never had masks then, its not recommended but its done, its the blue asbestos that's the killer but its better to be safe, if you have an alternative, do the alternative,  |

The latest training I had is that you can drill into asbestos by placing shaving foam around where you are drilling the asbestos (so that the foam collects all the dust).
Then put it in the asbestos waste along with your ppe and send it away for disposal.
Like tom said we sawed it smashed it drilled it without wearing any protection back in the day. I even know a plumber who cut it with a circular saw (imagine the dust)!

Thats good idea with the shaving foam, the sparkies at work have to use wall paper paste on texture coated ceiling(artex) mind you they never do...im doing a job for my brother ,fitting a saniflow working out my pipe run best way is straight into loft then into asbestos stack will a strap boss /solvent weld take to it?,could go under fist floor to bath waste.. bit of a pain in the arse though..  |
