Frustrating to say the least
I had one few years ago now, custern leaked slightly so I went & took apart tightened up etc. All ok, tested, no leak, 2 days later custard (renters) said it's leaking again, went back, sane again.
Perplexed. On the 3rd visit I said it's got to be faulty but then I had a brainwave. These were 2 larger people & so I fitted rubber washers to the rear of the cistern so when they sat & leaned back it wouldn't move.
Bingo, the seal was being broken by their size.

Hi all again firstly I like to thank you for your replys especially Tom plum just to clear up any confusion regarding my description of bolts and cone washer the cone was inside cistern under head of bolt and washer on underside then nut . The customer went to plumbers again and they gave him a new "to go " toilet this had the same bolts as before but I put it together exactly as above and there was no leaks first time thanks again to everyone
