Assuming it a standard system tank I would just plug the tank feed and head back to the radiators for another go of draining down then fit my valves. One of those radiators will have to be a heat sink on that part of the system so one without the TRVs.

Are they heat sinks, and also connected to the heat exchanger in the cylinder to keep the secondary h/w hot all the time

Are they heat sinks, and also connected to the heat exchanger in the cylinder to keep the secondary h/w hot all the time Quite often they are like that endfeed, 28mm flow & return upto the cylinder with one heat sink off that multiple rads added to that set up would Rob to much heat from the cylinder.

What was the answe to this one? I think I missed it while I was setting fire to the local school Your first post was onto Endfeed it you just had to realise it was on the wood stove and not the fuel oil stove, thus a separate system.
