hi. was wondering how you guys secure basin to walls? do you use fischer fixing kit? or 2 washers a metal one and tap washer and screws?

I used the basin fixing kit.
One thing that has happened to me is the 15mm drill hole was too big for the plug but last time I used 14mm drill & plug wouldn’t go in!!
I used 15mm but had to screw bolt into plug a bit before going into hole so it bit in, otherwise it just spun.

A lot of basins now come with only a ‘Fisher Bolt’ type fixing holes. So that type of fixing kit is really all you can use & bring their own difficulties, if you’re fixing to to a brick/concrete/block type wall, you need to ensure it’s not a joint or a soft ‘breeze’ type block.
As mentioned, the Plug size is a bit odd & in the past I’ve rapped insulating tape around the plug, just to beef it up a bit. On a Plasterboard partition or wall, you need good thick noggins/dwangs or the bolts will simply split the wood. I’d always recommend at least a 3x2” piece of timber, well fixed.
As I mentioned on another thread, I always struggle with screwing these bolts in & yet to see a good method of driving them in??!

Like Dick says, on a stud wall you need some good timber, I always cut out the plasterboard between the upstand studs and fix a good wide sheet of 1/2 ply , let it rest on the floor then screw it through the plasterboard so it can't go anywhere, then put the cut out back and put you fisher bolts in, solid as a rock,

tom and dick once you have plyed it what size drill do you use for the fischer same as normal or a bit smaller coz its wood obviously you dont use the plug into the wood or do you?

those toolstation bracket are ok for a small hand basin but not for a bathroom basin, with the ply method you just do a pilot size, the screw will work its way in,
