As we’ve discussed before bonding endfeed fittings & copper tube can easily be done with any anaerobic adhesive, like Screwfix Liquid PTFE for example. However, this dickhead is doing it all wrong. He’s using steelwool & not sandpaper or emery cloth, steelwool will leave deposits of steel on the bonding surfaces & leave a much weaker joint;
I’ve still to extensively test the cheapo Chinky anaerobic adhesive in the Labs, but watch this space👍👍

I brought some endfeed fittings the other day and they were soooo tight to get on the pipe I could have got away with no soldering, they were shite cheap tat. smiley-chores037 binsout

It’s funny you should say that PB, the mob I work for supply the Fry’s Flux(self cleaning yellow tub, name escapes me) & it can be a bastard for ‘lockup’ when assembling tube & EF fittings. So we’ve started just fluxing the tube, pushing it in & rotating it. This appears to solve the problem & with less Flux there’s no solder snot down the tube. Though I’ve been at the Trade 44 years, I’m not bothered about sharing problems & new innovations, as we all know every day is a Skool Day, Thankfully! |

I know the stuff Dick it's probably that power flow flux it's really grippy and a nightmare to use with slip couplings.

Powerflow,,,as soon as it hits copper is working to clean the copper, its active and working on both surfaces so they become sticky and it hot weather it becomes worse,
Lac-co is unactive, you put it on the pipe and its just a greasy paste until you apply heat, then it becomes active,

I bought a bag of solvent weld overflow elbows from Screwfux last year, and same thing. Fookers were so tight I couldn't get them on the pipe without breaking them. Had to sand down end of pipe to get them on.

Thing with all these wonder glues to join copper pipe is how long do they last? Do they degrade over time? I've got soldered joints in my house that are over 60 years old from when it was built. Wouldn't be confident that glued fittings would last anything like as long as this.
Nothing gives me more confidence than seeing proper soldered joints. If DIYers find endfeed tricky - solder ring was invented for them. |

DIY DickheadDoctor is not the only one that’s jumped on this solderless Bandwagon.....FFS!!
It’s only an anaerobic glue. I recall when we started doing UFH 25-30 years ago, buying Italian or Dutch kits, there was an anaerobic glue supplied for the Manifold joints. Nothing’s new.
