A quick look to see where the easiest place is for the tee and stopcock then a 600 x 8mm sds drill from the inside, then from the outside a 750 x 20mm drill bit through the brickwork and back of unit in one go, fuck the DCV and sleeve they are extras, "shootie in" as you Fifers would say Dick. Fifer me FFS?!!!! The ultimate insult!!! OMG, the very thought of the high pitched voice & dulcet tone😡😡😡

been to toolstation today for the gear for tomorrow, a few pence off £12, tap, backplate, iso valve, I'll need a metre of pipe which i've got so i'll put £2 on. round it up to £20 including plugs screws, I'm still in the clover at £70, It depends on the area you work, out of 10 calls this week for outside taps, i've only won 2 at £70 so if i had to earn a living, i's have to do um for less, Is it better to be a busy fool or sit at home and don't have beer in the fridge ?

I quoted one on Monday, all in £100.
Shed had a quote for £40
She asked if I could better it, I said crack on & headed for the door. Just time wasters.
£40 ridiculous
Must be a jam roll doing it

I always drill from the outside in, I use a through-wall plate so need a clean surface for the screw holes, only gone wrong once, this is a gas pipe I hit last year My line was good until I got through the cavity and the mortar line in the next layer of bricks was in the perfect place to knock my drill bit down enough to come out about 2cm lower than planned. You can make out the stupid arse of a mortar line in the picture... Attachment DeletedI've also started to drill in the middle of a brick rather than going in between the bricks, again to make drilling the holes for the wall plate easier, I'm not keen on Accrington brick... I drill the main 20mm hole with my big SDS and do the 6mm holes for the wall plugs with my combi drill as the hammer action is a lot weaker and helps stop the brick crumbling into the main hole when drilling. I pilot the 6mm holes with a 4mm bit, seems to work a lot better. I usually measure from the sink waste pipe if it goes through the wall. Otherwise it's a case of measuring the window frame, then the backsplash, then the worktop, then down from there for the height and leave something (usually my plumbers mait - so many uses ) on the window sill for the horizontal guide. I usually fit a DC, but I may have been known to occasionally miss that bit out, always fit an ISO though £50 is a bloody good price for all that effort I've heard that power washers can pull a DC valve closed if one is fitted?

I usually use a john guest tee to get into the hot pipe and solder the rest, saves pissing about with soldering potentially wet pipes as that pipe you're teeing into is usually the lowest bit of the hot pipework in the house.
