A shower has a 40mm waste. The water builds up in the tray. Every 2/3/4 months drain unblocked is put down to clear hair, skin, turds, etc.
Seems to be ok
Customer has been fucking around on the Internet & has seen you can get 50mm waste pipe!
The branch outside has the 40mm waste going into it.
Is there a branch & fitting for a 50mm waste?
I see no point in the shower waste being normal 40mm, then opening it up to 50mm then reducing again to 40mm to fit into the branch.
Any thoughts?
I’m not losing sleep over this customer, it could be a waster. He’s an arab! Sorry, I didn’t get any hint of an accent but when I went there I was out within less that 2 mins.
Cheers all

without seeing it, I'd say the pipework had backfall so increasing the pipe won.t help,

My firm does some maintenance on some corner properties that have a 50mm waste pipe. It goes right round the kitchen into the bathroom, picks up the whb waste, then the bath waste, then into the internal soil stack, hardly any fall on it and a right ruddy mess to clear out when it blocks up!
I guess the answer is a yes to the 50mm stack boss (they do make them) and a no to the question will it stop it getting blocked up if the size is increased to 50mm?

stack bosses are 50mm afaik, you need to use an adapter to drop them to 40/32 so no need to drop back to 40. Tom's probably right though, it does sound like it's going uphill somewhere.

I’ve learned something there 50mm into the stack without adapter. As another learning bit then, if you put the 50mm straight into stack I take it solvent weld it or is there a rubber available? Thx JC

I was once told all soil pipe is solvent, even the ones with a female end. I don't know if it's 100% true but every soil I've worked on so far has taken solvent well.
