About 4 months ago I swapped a ball cock in the cwsc in a loft, filled up, all ok.
About 2 months after the woman rang me & said she had a leak through her kitchen ceiling, her grandson turned off the water the night before. So I went there, turned the water back on but nothing, waited half an hour, nothing.
I didn’t charge
My window cleaner who knows her just said it was the ball cock that was punctured & leaked!
I said no way, as it would’ve overflowed first.
He said there was a pinhole leak in the ball.
Now I’m not stupid & know if the ball cock fails it’s going to over flow as it was doing.
Has anyone had a ball with a pinhole that’s caused a leak without the over flow going?
Cheers all

I,ve seen more than one o/f pipe running uphill, letting tank overflow. Is this a flat, as the kitchen was below the loft. No danger of it being a bathroom above? The source of many a leak through ceiling.

When I got there it was dry
The bathroom is above the kitchen
The overflow is all ok
I just smell bullshit

perhaps it the roof leaking, they all call a plumber first when water is coming in, was it raining, then stopped ??

Did you establish if the overflow on cwsc can take the tank overfilling with the valve filling at max flow (ie. no other outlets in house being used)? Even if the overflow can't handle full flow, not your problem.
And yes, if I had a pound for every time I've been sent into a loft for a leak only to see daylight coming through a hole in roof, I'd have 7 quid.

Bathroom above ? Could be she's let the fookin bath or basin overflow and thought as you'd been there a few months earlier that she could blame you.
