I have a way of doing these, but only works with plastic tail valves. drain cistern and remove connector pipe and using a hot scraper melt though the plastic tail and let the nut and tail drop out, now get a brass tail valve of your choosing and make sure you use a nut that will fit in your box spanner, it some cases attach a flexi onto the valve before you drop it though the cistern. It most cases it works and saves fanny fucking around removing cisterns. Why have I never thought of that? Some of these plastic nuts can be tight as fuck and you can't always get the grips in underneath to turn the nut. You'd have to mop up all the water out of the cistern first. Then heat up a paint scraper till it glows red, then push in under the fill valves shank and melt it off. I get it and I'm now eagerly awaiting the opportunity to give it a go.

Sounds like a performance to me and for that reason I'm out ! In my case it would have been more of a performance to rip off tiles on the boxing i, it was all done very well and would need to be put back perfect, I don't mind taking cisterns off as I like to replace the rusted throughbolts but in this case doing the above was the better option.

In rocketmans case he was better off removing the cistern that's the point ! If some prick boxes their toilet in to the point you can't access it for repair then I'd take a walk, it's their problem. Problems find you mate without taking them on.

I had one once where it was all tiled in & no access point.
I said to the woman what idiot did that, her husband she replied. Well, that’s just cost you plenty more money.
I just cut into the boxing, tiles cracked. I fixed the toilet & told the wife to get her husband to create an access point.
People don’t think sometimes, it all looked good but...
