Had a call off a customer who I've worked for before, they've had a bathroom fitted before they found me and I've corrected loads of mistakes in there, the installers were cowboys. One example is that they made a little well with silicone under the cistern in a vanity unit to stop a drip from showing rather than just fix the leak. Anyway, they tell me now that the external section of the shower waste has come off revealing about 5mm of waste pipe and they can't get it back on. The bathroom is a tiled floor and the shower tray is floor level so no access to any pipes. The lady got upset when I told her I'd have to go into the ceiling below to replace that bit of pipe with one long enough. So was wondering if anyone knew of any tricks to attach an elbow to a pushfit pipe where only 5mm of it is protruding from the wall. It's not solvent pipe. I was thinking of maybe removing enough brick around the pipe exit to get a fitting on further but that is assuming the pipe won't just push in as I'm trying to get the fitting on. Anyone got any tips or tricks that could help out here?

I immediately thought of removing brick around hole
No point in the customer getting upset. If she wants it fixed properly then maybe it’s ceiling down
Once it’s plastered & ceiling painted you’ll never know
Price accordingly

If there's play on the pipe, gently pull it out towards you with pliers enough for the slip on the fitting and tap a small wooden wedge between the wall of the pipe and the brickwork to hold the pipe in place, if the pipe has originally been short then your'e fucked and it's cut a hole in ceiling time. if the waste pipe is ABS all the better, glue a fitting on then pull out the wedge.
