Hello
So I've got a job to swap a Mira sport elec shower
The shower in situ is old but a new Mira sport is available
The old shower doesn't state anywhere what kW it is.
I was going for a 9 or 9.8 to replace but they also do 10.8.
Is there a way I can tell when I take the front off the old shower whether the cable is adequate for the new one?
Also, I understand it needs a Iso valve, rcd,
Is there anything else I should look out for. I'm inspecting it again on Friday.
I want to do a short list so I don't miss anything.
I having a wobble already!!!!
Cheers
Rct

It its old , its odds on the cable is too, I'd ask the customer if they want it upgrading and if they do, I'd get a spark to do the cable and iso/rcd, if they just want a swap i'd put a 8kw in,

I don't know what happened to my post......... Anyway i was going to say check your other post regarding checking the size of the unit , i said for you to get a small piece of 6mm wire to compare the existing one against it and if the one your checking is thicker you know it's 10mm not 6mm , another way to check the difference is the 6mm twin & earth will have a solid earth wire in it and 10mm will have stranded earth wires.......

Thx for that
I've now got another question
The old shower & new are a little different.
The new has water in on left top.
The old left right.
This means I need to reposition the new shower. Not sure how it looks behind the old but there'll be old screw holes on view.
What are your thoughts on this?
I can silicone in but they will be noticeable.
Cheers

Shower all fitted, no problems, tested & all good
Then went to help friend fit boiler or I should say do his running about but that's ok, all ok until commission when rads not working. Powerflushed system earlier
Spent an hour reading manuals etc
Then at 7pm customer said oh, it's never really worked!!!
Back in 6 weeks to sort it out. Good experience

You're on the right road rocky that's the main thing and anything you want answers to or you're not sure on something just ask.
