Your a good lad tom. I've just watched a couple of your videos and they're very entertaining and it's good to see a younger perespective of the trade.
I'm employed soley on plumbing maintenace work these days and working on the gas side of plumbing as slowly become unfamiliar to me over the last 20 years.
I really enjoyed that blocked heat exchanger "over heat" one and appreciated that look at that inside of a combustion chamber of a modern modulating combi. I've never heard of a "press gun" before let alone used one and never realised till now how much smart phones and their apps have become part of the modern plumbers kit.
Best of luck to you tom and keep the posts coming.
Tappy, (from south yorkshire)

I picked out this one to watch:
I liked it and can almost forgive the skipping over the details of thew tightness test. I have to make a couple of points on that. First is probably a good proprtion of your viewers are diy Daftys like me (maybe most?) and second is why would you show cracking into a a gas pipe (the dangerous part) but then hide the bit thatr makes the job safe? I know why - its due to pressure from bodys like gassafe and other plumbers. One day some idiot is going to try it and skip the testing at the end - maybe many are doing that already so you actually make things less safe.
IMO sparks stuff is way more dangerous as it is totally hidden but they make every effort to help out their viewers.
I don't mean to be having a go as I say I liked the video that I watched and definitely appreciate the knowledge on this forum - I'm possibly the only dafty here! Dick will be along in a minute to back you up to the hilt.
On another subject, press tools are interesting. As my name suggests I'm not a pro plumber so couldn't justify getting one but they do look nice and quick. A bit bulky though and can they get round pipes clipped to walls ?

Thanks for watching dafty! .. i always say in my vids that it is not a "how to" more of a general look. Id never show how to do tightness testing as that would encourage DIY. The press tool will go round a clipped pipe yes .. they can be a bugger in tight corners but you kind of change the way you work to get around those problems. Press fittings in first and then off to the walls etc.

Have you had any our your press fittings fail you yet? Additionally, are you loyal to a particular manufacture of the press fittings you use in terms of quality that your pressing?

I particually liked that app for the drop test tom. I remember when first using the old water filled U tube for the drop test and being the heavy handed sod that I am I turned the pressure on too much, hence, sending all the water straight out of the gauge and into the stratospher.

Additionally, are you loyal to a particular manufacture of the press fittings you use in terms of quality that your pressing? the only ones that have failed have been the ones where i hadnt pressed them properly .. not had them fully in the jaws or at an angle. The more you do the easier it is as you avoid the fittings in the corner scenario. Ive also found i use my pipe benders more which is always a good thing. I use m press fittings as they are based in West yorkshire and i can get them at a good price. They also match my jaws for the gun. They come in different profiles.

The digital manometer is the testo 510i if you want to check some online reviews. i think they are excellent but do need calibrating annually

Thanks Tom for these ' new tricks' Apps have changed our lives ( well not mine) , During a Day out in Blackpool recently, Cafe's are using apps to seat and serve customers, I cannot be arsed with that so I walked away and found a cafe in my dimension , I think any plumbing I do now, will also be done in the pre app age but, thats not to say that, I don't find the new age interesting and can't help wondering if, Are all these easier ways the thin end of the wedge leading to the female of our species bidding for a takeover, In the motoring world it started that way by making cars with electronic ignition, power steering, sat nav, auto parking, parking sensors, keyless starting, and now look at our roads, every other car is a wimmin, they're driving unsupervised on our main roads, causing queues, crashes and when they get a flat, they are fucked because, there is no app to change a wheel and they need a man, Is this our future ?

Yep, with you on that, Tom. Wimmin - cooking, cleaning, f***ing. Stick to that, please ladies. World started to go pear-shaped as soon as you left the house and started poking your oar into the man's world. Yes, I'm a dinosaur. And happy to be one. Only a dumb phone here - text and phone, that's all I need. Brother's got a smart phone and spends all his waking hours staring at the damn thing. Like all the kids you see today walking along staring at their phones.
