Regulation fit on new builds on baths I believe. Delivers a nice bath of er cool water so don't put any cold in although the bath will have gone cold by the time it's ready to get in.
Designed to prevent accidental scolding of the householder, however, delivers water at a nice temperature to be full of the legionella bacteria said an tutor on a recent legionella awareness course that I was on.
They need to be serviced (filters taken apart and cleaned) on a regular basis.
Regulations are not retrospective so if you haven't got one don't fit one, just use your common sense when filling a bath would be my advise.

Tappy,
We feed our TMV’s with 60’ water either from a steam fed calorifier or more commonly now immersion heaters, then we set them to 41’ we also get our CWST chlorinated to mitigate the risk of legionella

37' is the temperature that the legionella is most active at, once above 50' it can only survive for around 5 mins.
TMV should be set to deliver hot water at 39'-43' degrees - still a nice temperature for the legionella bacteria to grow at.
The main drift of that recent L course was if someone comes to you saying that they've caught legionella from your properties in order to protect yourself/your company you must have a program of preventative L measures in place.
If you haven't you could still be found guilty of that accusation even though no legionella was ever found in your companies water supply!
All very snowflake and so typical of today's society!

We’ve been fitting them under Baths for some time here in Jockoland. I must try to get some photos of the way we do them👍
I know it’s very Nanny State, but the thought of a wee kid getting scalded just horrifies me!!
I’ve removed a few in households with no kids. Laboured the point to them of the implications of not having one.

I’ve never been to a house, I don’t think, that has one but with more & more new builds I’m sure I’ll encounter one sooner or later.
They seem simple enough

You can adjust them by turning the hex or screw slot on the top. Clockwise will raise the temperature and anti clockwise will reduce it. They are usually behind the bath panel which is all nicely sealed with mastic, making you the evil villain for disturbing it. TMVs do often stick hence letting a reduced flow of water through them and the filters should be regularly cleaned to prevent a biofilm build up that can build up on them. The regulation's not been fully thought out me thinks! 43' is a very low temperature to have your maximum bath water temperature decided to be by the powers that be, however, if it prevents one accidental scolding of a youngster or elderly person then fitting a TMV's been worth it. NB. I've fixed a few sticking TMVs by taking them into the back of my van for a dam good trashing (Basil Fawlty style )! PS The chance of ever catching legionella through taking a cool TMV monitored bath must be around zero.

Have I read this right? Some people want a mixer that to adjust the temperature they have to get the panel off and find a hex key ?
They must be the same kind of people like my gran who used to enjoy washing in cold water on a winter's morning.
Blimey wanting a hot bath doesn't make you a snowflake these days does it ?

I’ve got my cylinder stay at 60. It’s red hot & her indoors & Rct Jnr love it. Rct Jnr goes in the bath & watches a film!!! Craziness but at least she’s a clean person!

Yes, imagine if there was another war. We'd be screwed.
