I can’t disagree, it is a Nanny State & kids are more vulnerable because their parents are fucking useless!! Near Puller Towers there’s a few kids out playing in the street, really playing, they are great kids & I speak to them when I’m out for a walk with Fangs our Dog, he loves kids, but couldn’t eat a whole one. They play football where they’re not supposed to, skin their knees & get dirty. Lovely kids, chat away with confidence & good manners. These kids are smart & will grow up to be successful, well adjusted adults.
Parents that drive their kids to Skool should be ashamed of themselves!!

When I was a kid we'd play out on the street from the age of about 4 or 5. For hours and hours until the parents starting calling us in for dinner or whatever.
Nowadays its less common. There's always been weirdos, peados and murderers lurking around but no more now than then and yet most parents would point the finger at you if you let your young one out to play on his own with other kids. Now its all got to be arranged by adults etc. I used to just go out and if nobody was there would start knocking on doors where I knew my pals lived.
I do remember one day a bloke on a motorcycle (aged 40 ?) came down our street asking if anyone wanted a ride. Maybe that bloke was fine. Maybe not. But we weren't so stupid. You can teach a kid to stay away from strangers etc so that they can play outside without being locked at home.
