OMG I just can't believe this. Had the bath half full and while it was like this last night decided to just give one of the feet nuts a little turn upwards - just a couple of turns. Came in this morning and its dripping from underneath but no crack at all apart from that chip but that chip is on the other side of the drain. Waste is _definitely_ not leaking. So small chip on one side and its dripping from underneath on the other side. Could water get in through the chip and find its way to the other side so maybe once chip is repaird it will be good? Or is it new bath time ? Attachments:

Well I've just found another hairline crack but this one you can push it right into the bath. S shaped in the pic on the same side as the leak. Don't know how I didn't see it before and dont think it was that tile. At least I know what the issue is. And should have said this leak is when the plug is closed but water in bath. Attachments:

You can buy acrylic kits to fix stuff like that or you can get a magic man to fix it
Better than ripping it all out again

Btw, I had to open it a bit because it was hollow underneath that crack. New pic shows it in all its glory. You reckon that can be repaired at least so it doesn't leak doesn't have to be perfect. I bought the kit from toolstation gonna collect it now. If I have to rip it all out I may as well bury myself now ! Attachments:

I’d never be happy patching a damaged new Bath. Just replace it, something has dropped on it. I’d suggest a thicker, better quality Bath. I genuinely feel for you mate, it’s a nightmare when things get damaged. But hey, it’s just part of life’s rich tapestry, sometimes you’re the statue & sometimes you’re the pigeon.

DD haven't you already logged a complaint about the bath with your supplier, on being substandard in its finished state around the waste landing area?
Now if you have just fit the replacement bath and consider that his bath was a very expensive template.

I'm a bit calmer now (but not much ). I was supposed to have removed even the very thin film before fitting it. There were warning signs everywhere to do that so that I could report damage asap. But I left it on because I wanted to protect it as I was tiling. Thinking back I do remember a couple of strips of very thick duck tape applied to the side close to where the larger hole is and maybe down and over the hole - can't remember. When I removed the tape it looked ok apart from thick lines of glue from the tape - I'm sure that wasn't just for packing. The little divet on the far side is mine and it just needs paint and I've proved is nothing to do with this leak. This one I have proved is the cause of the leak. To start with it was just an S-shaped crack but with a lot of movement as hollow underneath. The second pic shows me digging it out. You know I think I didn't notice th first time because like a fking Dafty, I first tested it half full with the original film still in place around most of it. This is one of those occasions where since I've just come back from Toolstation with a kit I've got nothing to lose in trying even though I know its not the rolls royce solution and I am going against 2 very experienced plumbers at my peril. I really don't care about the cosmetics as you don't see it standing in the room - just that it seals permananelty. I can see why you'd have to replace it on a job with paying customer because you wouldn't get it perfect but as long as the filler fills that hole and there are no other holes......

Just read this in my kit. It says: Durability: This repair solution is characterised by long durability, if the hints and instructions are observed. Even if it does work I'll let you know in a couple of years if I get a phone call that the kitchen (below bath) is flooded just so you can say "told you....".

DD your coming around - it's just work. Remember just do it to the best of your ability and after that it's all down to luck. Cheers Battle and I've just realised that whilst the intricacies of bath design have suddenly become the most interesting thing in the world to me I realise its probably V boring to some so tell me to shut up if required. Anyway, I just made the hole a little wider removing the top plastic where it flexes above a hole below. But like a bad wall, the more you remove the more you see that flexes. I then realised by pressing my thumb hard, that this void runs as bumps around the "P" shaped part of the bath. So when you press hard and move your thumb around the bottom edge of the P, you can feel bumps and voids underneath. In a couple of places you can here the material crumble underneath. Its only like this around the P. Now maybe that's normal I don't know. I might on the off chance see if the factory will agree or at least take pity and sell me a new one cheaper. I really feel I must buy the same one again as all the measurements of the tiling and plumbing line up with it. The whole bloody room was based on it. If I do go down that route, I will do as insutrcted and remove and check it thoroughly then protect it thoroughly with multiple sheets and/or carpet.

What a nightmare Dafty, all that work. Its a horrible feeling.
The film for me does nothing to protect the bath, I rip if off first thing and protect the bath to within an inch of its life, old curtains, slabs of celotex, plasterboard etc.

The bath was low quality from the start, I'd have no qualms in telling the manufacturer that not only was the plug hole badly formed, there was also an S shaped crack in it and parts that crunched if you put little bits of pressure on, tell them you're taking it out and want a quality assured replacement or a refund. While you're taking it out you 'may' drop a hammer or something similar on it and cause a bit of damage to it that 'may' be similar to if you had dropped a tile on it, but no worries, it was defective anyway....

Maybe even threaten to charge them for the labour of taking it out and refitting a new one, that way they have something to say no to and sending you a new bath would still let them feel like they had some power in the negotiation.
