How to grout a wall twice
I enjoy wasting my time so I followed the procedure below:
1/ Make sure you have almost enough grout left to finish your area 2/ Mix up the grout nice and thin so it goes further - water is cheaper than grout! 3/ Apply as sparingly as possible 4/ Spend absolutely ages on each tile line so that you reduce grout wastage to a minimum 5/ Follow the usual sponging procedure and clean up 6/ Next day realise the weak grout has shrunk right back into the wall and you need to buy some more 7/ Do it all over again but this do it properly with plenty of thick grout to spread quickly everywhere before cleaning off. Job Done!

I don't mind doing tiling, but absolutely hate grouting. Having said that we've decided to replace our kitchen wall tiles soon. Going to buy those "metro " wall tiles so it looks similar to a plain bond brickwork pattern.

Quite nice cleaning it off and seeing how it looks. Shame you don't live close by. I'd happily do your grouting in exchange for some tiling

Looks nice Rocky.
Will the extractor cover the thin sliver at the top?

Looks nice Rocky. Will the extractor cover the thin sliver at the top? Thanks No mate. I’m leaving it as it is as the top chimney piece makes it look shit.

Did you put in the rest of the kitchen as well? Great job I would say. Maybe I'll post up mine some time but can't compete on worktops as I used the cheap laminate and you used a stone one? At least all my electrics have been finished

I spent more because it’s where I live so I didn’t mind.

If the rest of the house matches the kitchen you've done yourself proud Rocky.

If the rest of the house matches the kitchen you've done yourself proud Rocky. Thanks. I’ve done my best. It’s not perfect but that’s ok. It’s home until I die I think. I’ve still got 7 internal doors to fit & then they need painting which will be really boring.

Yes, nice job, Rocky. Good choice to go with grey grout. Unlike white, it doesn't get discoloured and grey stays the same colour as when it's new.
