The wet UF systems of the 60s and 70s were causing problems by the 80s and into the 90s when most were abandoned for traditional radiators. It's now in the 2020s and I guess it's time to go again with them. I've never fitted any UF heating in my life (just disconnected it)! They'll be much better though now because plastic pipes for heating have been used along with better controls, installation methods, however, will it stand the test of time? NB He's certainly good with those wireless controls which I find difficult to get my head round, guess it's my age ! I also liked his joke about why the old radiator had been left in, it's good he can make jokes about himself .

If protected from the screed couldn't they have survived longer - what happened to them? And definitely agree with your last point. With a name like mine how could I not ?

Done loads of UFH!! Started doing it here in Jockoland 30 years ago. It was always popular with Self Builds & people building large Architectural Design houses, it was trendy.
By the way, he’s connected his UFH manifold wrong.
UFH is a radiant heat, it radiates heat from the floor & minimises the body heat loss. Radiators give off mainly convection heat, so the ceiling is warmer than the floor.

Believe it or not B, the heat loss down the way is minimal, God’s Earth is roughly a constant 5degreeesC, so yeah you need some thing, but it’s not as important as -10C outside temperature & a shit external wall U Value. Overlay systems are OK, but my guess is his Tiles will crack like fuck in time, too much movement!! Hes a blood thirsty Count isn’t he??!!

Screwed iron was the material that these early was mainly made out of in my experience, with what looked like a preformed return bend connected to two sockets, I'm not even sure if it was of BSP thread? Just looked to be cemented in along with the concrete floor when it was put down. No insulation, then again you wouldn't insulate radiators would you? Rusted away from the inside out and then leaked or just got blocked up solid with the corrosion forming on the inside was the fate of those early UF systems dd.
Hopefully we've got it right this time and UF is much better suited to the lower temperatures of ground/air source heating than say gas or solid fuel of old. But it's anybody's guess really if it will stand the test of time.

The most efficient UFH is ‘pipe in slab’. However, the problem with concrete & plastic pipe, is micro cracks in the concrete. The concrete moves & the crack cuts through the plastic pipe.

Is there a cure for that problem? Several B, a good floor screeder will use the gypsum based screed, that contains a fibre to help it bond. Also the worst is a hairy arsed Builder(?) doing small batches from a Barrowmix!! What you must understand is; so called Builders(aka cowboy) are as thick as Pig Shit.

Another fairly new youtube plumber the friendly plumber seems good Seems a decent enough bloke to me - and quite bright to boot. If I had to have a new boiler I think I could do worse than pick him (if he's not too pricey). Also good to give the likes of pb and pants a run for their money. They do it long term for money of course. If they can build up say 50,000 views they might get $1,000 just for one video and the money keeps pouring in long after they make the video. I guess its a lot of work though.
