With the nice weather I'm thinking of getting the ladders out (and maybe scaffold tower I've got ?) to pull down the old plastic gutters, repaint the soffits and facias then put up new guttering & downpipes probably from screwfix (floplast).
Never done it before but looks like it just clips in and is fixed by drilling the clips to wood so looks "easy"? But nothing is ever easy.
Anyone have any tips?
Also if I'm too slow and it rains when I've got the gutters down is it a big problem if it happens just for a few weeks ?

I did mine off ladders by myself in a day, its not complicated at all but, as you are asking, I'd use a scaffolding tower, its easier but more time consuming, if it rains, don't get stressed, wait till it stops, it can't do much damage in summer, having a buddy will make the whole job a breeze, do you not know a , lad or a guy on the dole willing to earn a few pounds ?

Use a line dd to get a fall from the highest to lowest bracket and fix brackets to the line. Fix the brackets an equal distance apart (750mm) and check for the position of the double jointers before you start (try to avoid above windows) and it should all look very professional.
If there's no obstructions, then I'd do it off a ladder but only if you are confident on ladder work.
We don't get many gutter threads on here?

I tried to fix my gutter last week off of a ladder & it was too wobbly & dangerous
Definitely use a scaffold tower if you have one
One fall & your out of action

Put up UPVC Fascia & Soffit while you’re at it!!
Use a Deepflow Gutter, for the extra money it’s well worth it. Marley is the best, but Osma is OK & clips together easily👍 Polypipe is shite! Use White, every other Colour fades quickly!.

If you want to go by the book, the fall is 1mm per metre. If you're keeping the place for some time it may be worth putting on some upvc cladding while you're up there.

Well they don't call me Dafty no-mates for nothing HAHA. In truth, I don't know many people in my town - they're spread out over the country now. Not many on the dole here either as no excuse to be really as there are plenty of jobs. To Rocky, what kind of ladder have you got? Many years ago I bought a "DIY" class 3 quality ladder and it wobbles like crazy. I then more recently bought a class 1 industrial. Solid as a rock but bloody hard to move around. I should have bought a class 2 trade ladder for something in the middle. Anyway been out on it today and I _think_ I'll manage without the tower. Not sure where I'm gonna put my paint pot though ?

By the way, so I understand is it right that on a box shaped house you'd have 2 corners as high points diagonally opposite and 2 as low points also diagonally opposite with downpipes on the low corners? I wish I'd studied the existing guttering before I started ripping it down today....

Nothing is complicated once you’ve done it A lot of things in the trade & other trades are lightbulb moments Sometimes I see someone do something & think to myself is that it? It’s just practice

Take the down-pipes as low points and fall the gutter towards them, sometimes you have one front and back other times it's just the one for the whole house that's when you need to be careful not to run out of fall. NB You can't go by the fascia board dd for getting a fall on it - it's best to hold a level up to the line and then check were the bubble is. If you are struggling to get a fall you can fit it level and the water will still run away though there's no margin of error if you do this. When I was an apprentice the gaffer would make us fall the gutter into the waste water hopper head stating "soakaways" are rubbish, he was very proud of the fact that he'd fitted the guttering at his own home into the top section of his soil pipe. That saying "ignorance is bliss" comes to mind!!

That saying "ignorance is bliss" comes to mind!! Quick update: Got the gutters off on one side and round the corners slightly to the downpipes. Scraped, sanded, swept and cleaned with water. Almost ready for the undercoat/primer. Bought new white gutters as per Dick's tip and also don't really want the plastic to stand out especially if its me who's installed them lol. Now I've checked and there are downpipes at each of the 4 corners ! House is 12M wide and 8M deep. I'm struggling to understand how it can work unless the gutters are level like you say. Or maybe could there be high points in the middle of each gutter? Wouldn't you notice that though? I'm really kicking myself for not checking the existing gutter more carefully before I started.

Downpipe either side, high point in the middle. Deepflow type gutters are very forgiving with uneven Fascia boards. Get a String Line Level it hooks on your Line & can be a good indication of levels👍👍
FFS don’t fall of the ladder son!! I’d have nobody to take the piss out of!!!
