Hi all Bought some slic tite joint compound from wickes few weeks back. Says on the back of the tub not suitable for tapered to parallel threads...what sort of situations would this apply to? I'd just normally use it on compression fittings or in addition to ptfe on rad tails...?
Thanks

tapered thread are rarely used in plumbing, I've encountered them on pneumatic systems, compressed air and hydraulics so. Don't worry about it, plumbing is parallel threads,

As Tom has said tapered fitting are rare. Screw & socket steel pipe is about the only thing. Also know as ‘MI’ or Barrel.
Joint Compounds like Slic Tight can be used on these pipes & fitting, but generally only low pressure….eg. Nat Gas. Not commonly used, with PTFE thread tape etc more commonly used.
