the stubby spanner was indeed a top buy and those cheap pipe grips that I introduced at £3.50 are also , a used everyday item but unfortunately are no longer available, Of course Dick's number one item for me was the chinky blowlamp, still working good, also a daily used item,

Good job for us that Dick is so tight and finds all these bargains Olive said he is so tight that he pulled his hanky out one day and 5p fell out....he was on the floor so quick to pick it up that it hit him on the back of the head

Did you know that the stubby spanner was invented to get a fifty pence piece out of Dicks hand, Before that too many 10 bob notes got ripped because he won't let go of them, every day is a skool day,

I have some grips, £3. Had them over 5 years & brilliant. I also have knipex but the £3 ones get my attention.

They’re not cheap, but are the first tool out my toolbag. A very good tool!! My tip for not losing tools, get a bag with pockets. A place for everything & everything in its place!!

Another vote for the Amtech stubby. Gets into places my Bahco won't go.
Only thing against the Amtech is the jaws are a bit loose unlike the Bahco's which is obviously better engineered. Now if Bahco did a stubby......................

I've not got the chinky blow torch as I have a couple of the superfire 2's still in service. I have many adjustable spanners and pump pliers, some good and some shite ! My old mentor would always say the best tool for undoing pump valve unions is a big adjustable spanner or normal spanner, he said to me pump pliers give the union nuts to much pressure in where they bite and union nuts are quite flimsy causing the nut to dig in too much to the pump thread making it a harder job. A spanner will always give equal load pressure on the nut surface as it's flat to flat, thus helping in undoing the union. I've always followed that logic and it seems to work .
