I’m waiting on this new toy to arrive. Currently using the Rothy waste pipe cutters, similar to this. However the Rothy ones are dedicated 1 1/2” & 1 1/4”, so you’re carrying two tools. I think the Knipex one is a better design, I’ll keep you posted👍

It’s £32, which you may say is a lot of dosh!! However, if I do an average Barrett Box I’ll use it as follows; Cuts on Waste Pipes; Bath 2 cuts. Basin 1 cut x 3. Sink 4 cut x 2. Boiler 6 cuts. 21.5mm & 40mm So nearly 20 cuts & it can be used on 15 & 22mm pushfit tube.
Of course it’s a luxury tool, but I’m worth it 👍👍👍

Or the shampoo for tramps - Go & Wash.
Seriously, can see it's a good tool if you're house bashing, etc. But I don't do many plastic cuts in a day, so it would be just just another tool to lug around. I'm sticking with my hacksaw. It's cheap, simple and cuts any size pipe. Plus I'm too tigh careful.

I tend to carry the 40mm roth and do all plastic under 40 with ratchet cutters so 1 tool does 10,15,21.5,22 and 32mm (as well as all mdpe and lead i come across)

I like the idea of it on very old brittle pipe but for new pipe I have a traditional (over priced) rothenberg ratchet cutter - the one shaped like a pair of grips.

The advantage of a rotating type waste pipe cutter; it can be used easily in confined spaces. A Ratshit type cutter needs space.
It’s funny how plastic tools have evolved for cutting plastic pipe. We now don’t ever use a Ratshit cutter for PF pipe. The blades don’t last & it’s now become a disposable tool. Installing miles of plastic pipe & a good clean cut being so important for the integrity of the joints. Our Firm now supplies cutters FOC.
They’re generally the Irwin or Rothy ones. I think I’ve 3 sets in my Tool Bag, in various states of usefulness.

Unfortunately, I’ve not had a chance to use my new Knipex Bix. I’ve being slinging Combis & Radiators all week. Initial thoughts, it looks sturdy for a plastic tool & is very small when closed, with a safety clip - no way you’ll slice a finger in it.
I’d review it today, but it’s the start of the Doggin season, so it’s a full day for me as the President of the local Doggin & Bike Saddle Sniffing Association.

Interested to see if this is any good, I had a Rothy tube cutter that did 32 and 40 but would just spiral down the pipe, I got a refund on that as it was a waste of time and tube.
