our row of houses were built in 1995 and are fitted with baxi solo boilers in the internal garages, next door is rented by a nice chap who yesterday was having his boiler changed by a guy in a unmarked transit via the landlord, at the end of the day it was lying on his drive and I asked what the problem was, its knackered and the guy didn't seem know how to repair it so has changed it ,ok can I have it as the front logo strip on mine has broken and some of the parts might come in useful, yes you would be doing me a favour. So we carry it into my garage and I have a look at it, on the back of the thermostat box is a red reset button, we have had problems in the past when the water isn't being moved quick enough it operates and you can not get the boiler to fire unless its clicked back in, so out of interest I give it a push and guess what, it clicked back in, call me cynical but I cant help thinking that was the fault and either the guy missed it or decided it was a much more profitable job to replace the entire boiler..surely not

As a non gas safe person who is also a landlord this describes prob 50% of the plumbers I used to interact with...a lot of these lads just want an install job and either can't or don't consider a repair...I now have 2 guys who are very good at repairs that I use and trust them not to pull the wool over my eyes 😀

Ah Landlords, don’t you just luv em!! Want it done for next to nothing & slag off the Tradesmen when it goes tits up!!……..Miserable cunts!!
Between them & their moaning faced, manky Tenants, who would do work for them??!!😂😂😂
I don’t know any Landlord or Letting Agency I’d happily work for. They get the shite Tradesmen they deserve.

Quality!
Penny pinching, cheapskate landlords and cowboy 'fitters'. They deserve each other.
Neighbours across the road having a new bathroom fitted couple of weeks ago. Two rough looking blokes in an equally rough, old Tranny. Rolls of Polypipe in the back and tubes of No Nonsense silicone on the dashboard. Still I suppose they were cheap and available to start immediately. Yeehaarr!!!

Its the way the world has gone, A throw away age, Its driven by pen pushing , paper shufflers who are putting themselves between, supplier and demander and making a living in an office and using plumbers as a commodity,

Seen plenty of decent tradesman over the years show up in older vans and cars..maybe they just don't wanna spend 30k on a van? Or they are semi retired and looking at reducing expenses in their last few years. But I agree with the polypipe comment
