Be careful with gas mate. Make sure you rest for leaks if you do anything as it’s a silent killer.

I would say that, is a good video with good advice , I would not bother at all with a sealant, I'd just wire brush the thread and put it back because its a very fine thread and Appling too much , ( which is easily done ) , will put you back to square one,

Good advice from above I can't really add anything because I've never had to repair gas cookers (fitted plenty new ones though).
If the jet is blocked up and you don't have one of those "pin things" to poke it clear you can select a thin single piece of steel wool from your steel wool roll straighten it out and this will serve you as a temporary hole clearer.
That poker thing he was using is far to thick to ever clear the jet hole if the jet hole itself is blocked up - he didn't mention this at all ?
Using live gas to disperse the debris is OK... although I'm sure you would fail your gas assessment if you have ticked this box ?

On most Hobs it Sparks onto the Ring Burner. So in effect ‘going to earth’, so clear everything on the burner & base. If someone has let their porridge boil over, it goes everywhere!!
Good link by the way AJ, thanks for that👍👍
