Don't philmac fittings claim to fit on any pipe? Can't see why you can't cut it with an angle grinder and bang one on??? You could put this question to philmac technical help line and see what they say? Definitely chase back to nearest threads and use male iron if you can,as already stated👍👍

Hi Guy's many thanks for your replies Problems I have 1, the pipe is tight on the wall so I don't think there is enough room to cut a new thread or fit a philmac joint 2, as for chasing the pipe back to the next threaded joint Well there is a right angle joint but its up tight next to the ceiling / roof,, and sort off behind 2-off 22mm copper pipes very difficult to get too Now how tight are these joints usually and what would you use to grip the pipe just Grips to be honest seems to be a Beestard job and wondering if I really want it !!! only problem there is other work there as well but none are that easy thought please !!!!!!!!!!!!

You want a pair of "stillsons" or "pipe wrench" As in 2 tools, one to hold things and the other to turn things. Water pump pliers can work, if the teeth are sharp and the pipe is fairly small. Sounds like a PITA to remove the pipe. Not sure you want to get in too deep if it's not something you do often (i don't)
Can it be boxed in? What about keeping it as support for a bit of lattice to grow plants up or something like that??

If you’ve got other work you can make money on let that job go as the risk reward isn’t stacked in your favour.

Unless you have more lucrative work, I don’t understand your reluctance to do the job??!! Charge them plenty, you clearly need the experience & gain another customer.
If you can make a fortune as a ‘Washer Changer’ then great!

If you can make a fortune as a ‘Washer Changer’ then great! I agree Walking away is a last option. If there’s a job that’s difficult then the price to do it goes up. It’s too easy to keep saying I can’t or don’t want to do it. Get it done, get the experience, then next time it’s easier.

It's all about your ability to assess the job based on your past experience's.
Then again, I would always tell my last apprentice it's not about doing the jobs that go really easy all the time it's all about doing the ones that don't.
Back to that iron pipe and you could cut the iron pipe close to the ceiling and fit a Johnson's coupling on it with a short piece of iron pipe with a cap end fitted on it and indeed you would have disconnected that iron pipe and tap!
However, that coupling is really an underground fitting and it would look/be an unprofessional job.
It's all about having the knowledge of when to walk away from a job.

Hi Guy's Very sorry peeps just had to let it go as I always want to sleep at night .......
As my thoughts on plumbing is I will not do anything in your house that I would not do in mine
Yes I agree it is all about the experience but for me honestly it was not worth it as it felt like a Can of worms time
as I also agree the more experience can also be gained by walking away.....I know I can hear you Guy's saying Chicken !!!
I have been in business for 12 years and at first I did every job I got offered but after a while learnt that I work for myself
and I can say thank you but no thank you............. hope you all can understand where I am coming from ............
But I must say as always I appreciate all your helpful remarks as usual ..................
