That’s only labour, £300 a day for the gas man & & £100 a day cash for his helper. Plus parts which may have a mark up on. Not bad money. It can be fitted in a day. |

That’ll get their foot in the door only. A good Marketing strategy though!! Of Course, the boiler breaks down the next day, they turn round & say; ‘you supplied it mate, nothing to do with me’!! Also, they’re dependent on the Punter supplying an appliance that complies with Part L & Boiler Plus. To clean a system properly can take 1/2 a day. Not mention of Power Flush!! But hey, if you’re a tight arse ‘half a shandy’ little Engerlander, crack on😂😂😂😂 |

I’ve a mate who constantly whines about being undercut on Boiler Swop Jobs😂😂😂. I just keep telling him, he’s in the wrong market. Domestic Gas Work has been killed off by the 6 Weeks Course Cowboys.
I tell him; the only good money in Domestic Gas work is repairing the fuck ups these morons leave behind them.
So, this guys is making £300 a day, but I, on average, make £500-800 a day doing repairs.
When people have no Heat in the middle of Winter, they’ll pay Top Dollar for repairs. I have a 89 year old OAP neighbour, he tried 4 different guys to come out & fix his Baxi BBU. Nobody would touch it. ‘Never worked on these old things, want a price for a new boiler’?.
I stripped it & fitted a new thermocouple & charged him £860, he was delighted to pay that, he’d been quoted £4,380.00 for a new boiler........Work smarter, not harder!!!👍👍👍

I like that story Dick but, there are too many talented salespersons about today who give them the ole', " it will pay for its self in a year" and " we are a Gov't listed company and they will pay the initial cost of the boiler and you just pay the remainder over 10 years at a monthly cost " bullshit rules the market place, Our day of ' wham bam fixed it Mam £50 quid in back pocket' are long gone,  |

Ach, the government have numbered the days of new gas boiler installs though. Summat about going green and saving the planet ( apparently) I feel a new tax coming on 😉😉

There’s plenty of good, repairable boilers go in the Skip. And, the most successful guys are good Salesmen, not, good Heating Engineers! As I come to the end of my career & look at the number of useless cunts in our industry, I laugh & wonder how the Tree Huggers will ever get a Heat Pump in every UK home😂😂😂😂 |
