Hi chaps, just out of intrest,do you tighten washing machine hose by hand or do you nip em up with grips?...same with plastic waste fittings?

I always nip with the grips just till snug as I 've had vibration loosen one off before.

I agree, hand tighten them, then just give a quarter turn with some grips,

sorry to hi-jack your thread end feed, but wondered about the same question with compression waste. I have seen guys put some Vaseline on the rubber and thread and tighten by hand and then say that will 'kin do and others nip them up with the grips. smiley-talk002 3 amigos

I always nip up a quarter turn cos if you only hand tighten them some fucker can un tighten them, then the phone rings and they always say " its leaked since you did the job, I thought it might stop, thats whu I've only just rang you"

Agree with the final nip up on washing machine hoses, I pretty much always do that. Never used a tool to tighten waste fittings though, you guys who nip up compression waste must have ladies hands smiley-chores011washing
