No, don't worry tom, I've no plans to challenge toms tips. I took my fake "Chinese go pro camera" to work yesterday (to try it out) and filmed how to remove an old WC from the drain collar without breaking it. I don't think tom as ever done this one.
I'm planning to take my plumbing videos off air soon because it's not what my u tube channel is really all about. Tappy,

Well I've never done one as I've always felt they've looked like a job which was destined to turn out to be a proper nightmare.
Now I've seen this video it has given me a real insight as to how I should tackle but what do you do if you break the collar? stamp

Maybe you could download it and edit it (post it back up as a toms tip tom)?

Maybe you could download it and edit it (post it back up as a toms tip tom)? I could do that if its ok with you tappy, I would't claim any credit though, I'd give full credit to you tappy, to be honest you have more patiance than me, i'd just twat the collar off and use a long bent pan connector, So its good to see how others would do it, smiley-violent001 hammertime

Now I've seen this video it has given me a real insight as to how I should tackle but what do you do if you break the collar? stamp When I was an apprentice I was made to feel like a criminal by the boss if I ever broke the collar on the drain whilst fitting a WC... "He's broken the collar"!! "He's what"?? "Broken the collar"!! If you broke the collar you could bodge it by putting a piece of lead around the pan and cement it back in or chop up the concrete floor and put in an earthenware double drain collar (hard work/expense) of course this is in the days before multikwicks. Proceed with a delicate touch and use the drill to drill 3 holes in line in the cement to make a hole before directing the chisel downwards on the old WC remains once you've cut a small channel through it just gently tap around the edges and it will come out easily (the trick is the drilled holes in cement before you start), I don't recall ever breaking the collar using this method and the occasion could still arise when you need to re-use the old collar.
