Went to look at a job about a week ago where a ladies basin and bath taps were dripping and not able to close easily.
I tried to rewasher and grease them up but they were set solid and would of broken before I got the gubbins free so arranged to fit new taps yesterday afternoon.
Got there at 1:30 and fitted the new taps in about an hour, the bath ones were a bit of a pain but they almost always are. I was expecting it to take a lot longer because there was a bath hoist that needed to be removed before I could get the bath panel off but that turned out to be really easy.
My next job was booked in for 4:30 (outside tap) so set off home to twiddle my thumbs for a couple of hours.
I hadn't got more than 100 yds from the first job when the phone rang. A guy had incorrectly fitted a thermostatic shower and the heat couldn't be controlled now so they wanted me to come and sort it out. It was about half way home from where I was so worked out perfect.
I expected it to take over an hour to sort out so priced accordingly. It actually took about 25 minutes - happy days.
This still left me with over an hour to my next job so as I was considering whether I should go somewhere for a coffee, or nip home for an hour instead the phone rang again, leak behind a basin two streets away from my 4:30 job. Again priced for an hour, but job took about half that so went for that coffee I was thinking about earlier which saw me through to the 4:30 job.
Some outside tap jobs can be a pain in the ass but this one was probably the easiest I've done - sink already cleared out, no back panel in the unit - good water isolation points. Took me about 40 minutes, I was sat at home eating my tea at 5:30 with a much healthier wallet than I had expected that day.
If only every day was like that...
