Can somebody please explain,why is there a
Expansion vessel on the cold side of an unvented cylinder?

the expandtion takes place in the cold because it has more room to expand and like everything else in life, expantion will take the easy route,

I think that you are referring to the Domestic hot water side (white expansion vessel) of the unvented cylinder. When heated all water increases in volume by a constant 4%, so this extra 4% of volume as to be accommodated somewhere (it also increases by the exact same amount when it freezes). |

Not wanting to be a pedantic twat, but I will anyway; you'll need a G3 unvented qualification before working on any unvented cylinder fella. We don't want the hard of thinking messing around with them.

Oh you can make your own rules Dick, After all thats all they are, made up rules my men in suits who charge us ( well not me now) to learn them, So we work to pay them to tell us how to do the job,,is that fair? Aye, it's a changed world. It was simple in the 70s, you worked, you got a pay packet on a Friday & had fun.
I look at kids in their 20s & think they just don't know how to enjoy their life.
