hi.my question is onelectric showers on a combi system. When the electric shower is in use and a tap is opened in the house elsewhere the shower stops working and bleeping. Is this normal? is the shower faulty? any fixes?

it sounds to me like the water pressure in the house is very low, try turning the stop tap anti clockwise, It might not ne open enough, If that fails you need a new water supply,

is there a way to check pressure? is there no way of boosting the pressure without new supply? how much is the average cost of new supply?

Check the stop tap first mate,as tom said. You can buy pressure gauge from bq..or plumbers merchants.

a new water main is not expensive, Its all the work digging that costs, if you know some lads willing to work for a day for beer money that will go a long way to helping you, If its needed a new water main will be better than a booster pump, Its likely your on an old lead or iron main so your water will improve too,

yes many are copper, if its copper its not that old, Probably 1960 ish, Ask your niegbours how their water is, If theirs is good it just might be your stoptap or a blocked pipe,

neighbours is lead and the pressure is good.when i was turning the stopcock anti clockwise as you suggested i noticed there is an isolating valve just above my stopcock about 30-40cm from stopcock. could this be affecting the pressure?

I dunno but I'm guessing if someone put an iso above the stoptap. it means the stoptap is not shutting off fully so it maybe that its not opening fully too, So thats the first thing to change, That might fix the whole problem,

you can test your water by using a measure jug and a stopwatch, run the cold tap at the sink and count how many litres you get in a minute, less than 10 is poor 10 to 15 is average anything above 20 is exellent,
