Im taking a radiator off today for a decorator, Its plumbed in with 10mm plastic, I've undone the lockshield valve then gone to the therastat side put the spanner on the nut with my footies on the valve to keep it firm why i undo the nut and POP, the plastic pipe just snapped off at the valve, GUSH,,, luckily the painter was on hand to keep his finger over the pipe while i found a push fit blank, After the comoshion I looked and the reducing 15 x 10 insert in the valve was dogged up so tight it had bitten almost through the plastic, It could have gone at any time, note to self,,,always have a pushfit blank on hand for future jobs

Is that where they fit like an electrical back box and a face plate behind the rad an then just trail the flow & return into the rad? I've seen it in peoples houses, is that the done thing now in new builds? Where's the skill gone?

Its all done for speed and cost, there is no skill involved in new house sitework anymore, Its like a factory, Do the first one, then the rest are all the same so build up your speed and do them quicker or get off the site, push-click, next, Plastic pipes, mfd, skirts and arcs, compressed shite slates, baking foil channel internal walls, chipboard floors and if you've not seen the joists, you would never believe it, recycled wood shavings between 2 - inch by inch batterns, the painter uses a spray gun, the window fitter uses crazy foam, BUT the house costs more than it did when it was built by tradesmen, profit, profit profit, 6XqEngr88r5GlWolCJDi

In our area we've got property currently having the pastic pipework taken out at the insurance company's request - leaks means claims and they've had properties totally flooded out because of oring failure while the owners either a sleep or at work.

the idea of that is the pipes are totally hidden behind the drylining, they pop out into an electic type box where the rad goes, so when the rad is fitted, one pipe to either side of the rad , it takes half an hour to fit and pipe the rad up,

I'm involved in new builds, all concealed pushfit. The big problem is noise, it creeps like fuck & can 'tick, tick, tick' like an IRA bomb!! So it's not really a case of just throwing it in, if you don't clip it right or sleeve it where it passes through joists it's a nightmare!! Most of the Barratt boxes are tiny, so sound traveles easily.
The 10mm mainly is fitted behind the plasterboard & comes out the back of the wall in a Manthorpe box. Most of the radiator valves have a 15x10mm PF brass M&F on each valve. The knicker knocker Painters normally lift off the radiators to paint behind them.
