Hello Friends
No work today as the electrician is not available.
So, my question then is who does their own electrical bit when fitting boilers, cylinders etc.?
Any recommendations for a course to do the basics of what's needed?
Thx all
Rct

I do my own, Most plumbers understand the heating part of electrics better than the sparks do, Most electrians hav't got a scobbie on heating plans, If its got more than three wires they are scratching thiers heads, Attachment Deleted

I did a course round a bout when heating with valves was becoming common, Early eighties with honeywell, At the time they were doing a free one day course because there was so much confusion over motorized valves, They ( honeywell) will probably still do courses, but I suspect it will cost a lot now, qwerty

Was usually the thermostat he got wrong. once blew up two thermostats in one day. The wireless stats confuse a lot of people because they do volt free and 240v and when wiring to 240v you need a jump wire and without it you're fucked.

I might do a little course next year I wouldn't bother rocky save your money and learn from your new gaffer, if you have a limited knowledge of heating electrics you will soon be lost on the course mate.

My old gaffer was a plumber/electrician (a title held by many back n the early seventies) whom I didn't rate as an electrician at all.
He once told me that there's nothing to it really, as long as you don't get the neutral and live wire mixed up !!!

He doesn't get involved PB. He gets a sparky in who a nice chap but he's really fast so watching him is difficult.
