Hello
A 1965 built ff maisonette. The bathroom pipe needs digging out of the floor & capping
Does anyone have any opinion if the pipes buried deep in those days & if the floor would be concrete?
It's an insurance job
I'll just get my hammer drill out & chip away?
I'll then run new surface mounted pipes to bath.
Also, the baths original, maybe cast iron, i need to move it out of the way, tiles will come off of the wall, not going to be pretty.
Cheers
Rct

I'd find out where they come from, usually the cylinder cupboard, then cut them off there, leave them in the floor and re run them from the cylinder cupboard to the bathroom, if you need to go across any doorways dig a channel in the floor and sink them under the concrete where you have to,

The insurance want the pipes drained & capped from their lowest point as somewhere they're leaking into downstairs
I can cut them above the floor easy but they're not happy as they say there'll still be water in the pipes that could leak out over time.

Suck the remaining water out of the pipes with a wet n dry vac, after you've cut the pipes. Should get almost all the water out.

Thx I said I can do that but they still want them capped at the lowest point The lowest point is going to be in the bloody concrete. I reckon they might just mean capping them off just above floor level (as long as there's no water in them) Anyrode the neighbours below should be thankful they've got a free "water feature"

I wish they meant above, i said I'd suck it out but they want it dug up
To get to the area the bath had to be moved back
Lovely
It'll keep me busy

thats a typical desk jockey menality, they want you to compromise the whole structure of the floor to get a cup full of water out, smiley-taunt005 show bum
