Picture this approx eleven years ago :- lovely five bedroom house on a rather to-do estate and we've got the job of fitting a three grand plus flat screen all sing and dancing TV system with and adjustable remote controlled mounting bracket and that was £600 plus - all materials supplied by customer.
On with the job with its big learning curve, cause we've never seen one before, never mind fit the twat, which was really heavy and industrial to be honest.
Well the job goes perfect and the customers over the moon and we made a good tickle cause it was priced as a don't want job but if you'll pay the price we'll do it.
So the assistance who's the firms owners son, I'm working with he's driving their firms van, I'm hired in to do the job and use the son as the addional labour but really it's to teach him what to do as they see money in this up a coming market.
Well we're ready for the off, tools all packed away and accounted for, then just as we're driving off the home owners drive the firms owners son decides for some reason to drive forward instead of reverse and goes straight through the customers porch and just stalls the engine before where into to the house hallway.
Now in fairness the owner of the property was fantastic and so was the firm I was subcontracting for but I thought I was a goner and the young son had to be taken away in an ambulance with shock, didn't cost me monetary wise but if we've got nine lives I lost one that day.

Sorry battle but that is funny as fuck. I find it funny now but at the time it was epic and the carnage was just like a movie set up.

but while your waiting for that here's a story from JJ's ville Derby, it was 1993 and at that time i was refubing pubs for a Wigan firm Street Company, My mate and me arrived in Derby about midday and inquired from other subbies on the job for digs, they gave us an address and we went down to book in, It was a nice place, clean, telly in the room, kettle, cups and tea and coffee in all rooms and reasonable priced, so we dropped our bags off and went back to work, We arrived back and there was parking space at the front of the guest house, others had parked to the front of the building off road and most had backed their vans right up to the front of the guest house so the back doors of the vans could not be broke into, good idea we thought, So my mate is driving the van and I'm at the back guiding him in, come on come on I'm saying keep coming, there's a few inches left and i'm guesting with my hand to keep coming slow, the next thing there is a loud crack, I had't allowed for the ladders on the roof and they went through the double glazed window, I jumped in the van and we fucked off round the corner, We wondered what to do, our bags are in there, So we bluffed it out, we parked the van further down the street and walked in, No one said anything, no one had seen us, no one had even noticed the broken window, by now some one else had parked there and still no one had noticed, So we got away with that, Next morning the propietor and a few others where pointing at the broken window and scratching their heads, My mate ( cheeky fucker) asks, " whats happened here" no one knew Phew,,,

While I was at college learning the basics of this plumbing malarkey I would do weekend jobs for people at low cost to get experience. An old school mate of mine phoned me to install an outside tap for him, so off I trotted with my new Stanley toolbox, DeWalt SDS drill and all the bits needed for the job, I looked so professional. Took about 2 hours to do the job which isn't all that bad for a newbie, charged him £40 or whatever it was and was chatting to him as he helped me put my tools in the back of the car about how pro I am and that plumbing is really easy if you have a bit of common sense. Walked back to his front door with him and pointed out that I'd drop a couple of pipe clips off for him when I got them and showed him where to put them. Got in my car and reversed out. I didn't know he hadn't put my shiny new Stanley toolbox in the boot, he put it on the floor for me behind my car and I promptly reversed over it breaking it into 4 or 5 pieces and spewing my tools all over the place. I looked so pro that day it was amazing
