the real damage was to the dresses in Miss selferages they put a £10.000 claim in, _t4MrEZkt3xFthuI5pxo, the main contractor Street construction's insurer paid the damages, they never even asked for my PL insurance, so that was a a good thing,

next ones tomorrow, how I flooded the Wigan Pier complex, I've saved the best till last, I can imagine the horror you both must have felt when that large ice plug appeared at the end of the pipe that you had just cut through. I particularly liked how the other guy hadn't realised it was soon to be life or death and he wanted to stay and get the valve on, such dedication! I've got a few more tales to tell, not all about me, some about other plumbers who've had things happen to them. Which one sounds the most interesting? "The Jewel Thieves" " The Night The Lights Went Out" " Fire, Fire, Fire" Intriguing titles eh! Tappy,

The Jewel Thieves (guilty until proven innocent).
Thankfully this did not happen to me, but to a couple of my co workers, one of whom still is. To this day he still talks about this experience (which is now well over 25 years ago)………...
25 years ago plumbers Bill and Bobs first job of the day is at a dear old ladies bungalow which they complete and say their goodbyes, then move onto the next job of the day.
Meanwhile back at the old dears bungalow she’s now having a look around and notices that a gold bracelet that she had put on her dressing table wasn’t now there…..thinks….“It must have been those dirty robbing filthy plumbers who nicked it”!!
I don’t know how, but the police quickly became involved, but before they could proceed they needed to have confirmation that the gold bracelet was indeed on the dressing table. Confirmation was provided by the now "not so dear old ladies daughter"!
Back on board Bill and Bobs van they take a call over their 2-way radio to return to the depot as the police want to see them.
Bill and Bob arrive back in the depot and are bungled into the back of the police car in order to be taken to the police station. As they are driven out of the depot all the faces of the office staff appear at their windows as they take a last glimpse of the jewel thieves in the back of the police car.
At the police station Bill and Bob are interviewed before being taken down to the cells to be locked up!
Police are then dispatched to both Bill and Bobs own house’s which are then searched as the police look for the supposedly stolen necklace (which of course wasn’t found) as evidence.
Some 5or 6 hours later Bill and Bob are released without charge.
The necklace was never mentioned again and quickly faded from prominence. We never found out if the "not so old dear" ever found the necklace at a later date, if she did she wasn't going to tell
What a day eh !!
Bill still often mentions it to me even nowadays, but with a sense of humour and I often tease him by asking him “how much did you get for it then”?
Who’d ever want be a plumber after reading this ?
Tappy,

similar thing happened about 10 years ago to one of my collegues on a refurn of council houses on a Manchester site, they phoned the police while he was still in the house, The cops came round and interviwed him in their van, he offered for them to stip search him, which they did, then searched his van, they emptied evertything out, and left it out in the street, they were looking for a diamond ring the tennant had acused him of stealing, they never found it, He refused to go back in the property,So another plumber finished it off, the tennant was also an old dear, It puts doult in your mind, you never know whether the lad was lying, the tennant was lying or just the ring just fell and got lost,
We as plumbers have to be seen as squeaky clean, a case such as this can have bad endings for us, smiley-confused002asak2
