Only 1/2hr to go now though JJ Been a busy night? Tappy, Unreal Tappy. We have D&V on the ward (diarrhoea and vomiting) otherwise known as Norovirus. Once someone starts with it , we can be changing bedding and hospital gowns three times an hour, for the one patient. Not feeling too well myself and only just managed to stop myself being sick on the way home this morning. I've spent all day in bed, getting up at 7:30 this evening and still feel bloody knackered. At work I must have been washing my hands every few minutes. (never have my hands felt so clean)

What a nightmare!!
Your chances of avoiding it must be almost zero!
When I go into some ones house to fix their toilet flush they quite often say things like "It's not been working and we've all got sickness/diarrhea"
I then just want to get away ASAP (without even breathing)!

What a nightmare!! Your chances of avoiding it must be almost zero! I've only ever had Norovirus once. About three yrs ago, I'd been out at darts on a Tuesday evening and felt absolutely fine. Got back home around 11 ish. Judy asked if I'd like a cuppa before bed and put the kettle on. Just sipping my tea when all of a sudden, my mouth started watering and I knew I was going to be sick. By the time I'd rushed to the toilet, I felt I had to drop me trousers too. The next few minutes were like a scene out of the Exorcist.. All I was short of was blood squirting out of me eyes. I'm sure I felt the very life draining out of me. Honestly wouldn't wish it upon me worst enemy. Anyway , after a few days I was back to normal. Our chances of catching it on the ward (although increased by our close proximity to patients) isn't actually that high. We take precautions. Wash hands before going to a patient, wear gloves, aprons etc. See to the patient, then discard the gloves and aprons, then wash our hands again. If I'm physically sick (for whatever reason) I'm duty bound to phone in and not report for work until at least 48 hrs have passed from the last time of being sick. Only thing I don't like about this rule is, it's open to abuse. I do know staff members who have said they're going out on a Friday/ Saturday night and have phoned in sick on the Sat/ Sun morning (yeah nowt more than the hangover of doom). Touchwood, all I have at the moment is a bit of a cold (but ya never know if I want out on Friday evening)

Just got confirmation of its second job on a Bosch washer Dryer - condensate channel fan so I'll post pictures for both tomorrow. Removed the washer/driers condensate fan with the aid of my Stanley multi tool Attachment DeletedThe fan blade was difficult to rotate causing the thermal overload to activate - lubricated the fan bearing then reset the trip and refitted the fan - unit left working. Since it's only a temporary repair as a good measure I gave the customer copy of the fan photo with the part number details for them to source if it fails again.

Interesting Job tomorrow - got to repair a tailgate wiring loom on a VW golf - job consist of removing harness from tailgate - removing failed section of harness and splicing in new section for failed section then, refit harness and reassemble vehicle panels, finally function test. VW dealer wants just short of £500.00 inc vat and three week waiting time before they can do it - customer can't wait as the frosty mornings is making it dangerous to commute. I'm going the harness repair route as I can guarantee a same day repair with twelve months warranty - £300 everyone's happy - now that's a good start to the new year - additionally one of the tools that will be of great assistance for this type of job is the multi tool donated by PB in the December competition so thank you PB. Got this job done today with the aid of this video link since Audi is the same family as VW, there's always a lot of similarities. Used PBs multi tool and a bit brute force to extract the harness from the tailgate for bench repair. Attachment DeletedWithin in that exposed loop above further digging expose wiring fatigue like this below Attachment DeletedIn total only five wires within the harness failed the brute wiggle test and continuity test. Finally reassembled the vehicles harness back into the tailgate to allow function testing - job completed and quite an enjoyable day in out of the cold!
