Fires now have a oxypilot thermacouple, if the fire is not getting enough oxygen the pilot will extinquish the flame, It could be that, tey opening the door and window and see if it stays in,

leave trhe door and window open, then set the fire to high, leave the window and door open and see if the fire stays in, if it does it proves the oxypilot is working, If it stll goes out, I'm barking up the wrong tree,

switched it on to the high setting about 5 hours ago without opening the door to see how long till it switches off, and then the plan was to time it and compare with the door being opened but for some reason it hasn't switched off as of yet.

Thermocouples can be very temperamental at times aj
If you can get to the pilot/thermo assembly on the fire without too much bother it might be worth a shot trying to blow the dust away from it with some of Mr Pullers now famous "air duster" spray from your local £ shop!
You might get lucky.

hi aj where the red arrow is, thats you injector, the flame should be split in two one going up one going to the side hitting that probe like the yellow line i put in,, thats your thermacouple, the middle thing sticking up if the flame is good then the injector os ok and thermacople if fucked, take the whole pilot assembly to a spare dept then you'll get the right one, Attachment Deleted

Attachment DeletedThere are two items to the left of the White ignitor first the thermocouple which you can clean to see if it's badly burnt or even holed. next is the gas pilot which if you look at it very carefully it's should have two flats on it to allow the nozzle to be removed for cleaning if necessary. Its worth lightly brushing with a small brush and cleaning with compressed air first and seeing if that sorts it's.

battle whats the best way to clean the thermacouple wire wool? I only clean the thermocouple to see if it's physically damaged, so wire wool would be ok but your looking to see its looks complete, as sometimes it burns the tip off the top or hole in the side etc. The most import area to clean is where the nozzle is (Tom red arrow points to it)with the compressed air and that the pilot flame reaches the thermocouple or the main valve won't open.
