a anti vac trap is for when the trap keeps getting sucked out when the bath is drained, you will hear a glug glug gurggle sound, this is caused by wrongly sized waste pipes or too many going into the same pipe and the force of the water going down pipe causes suction which pulls the water trap out and causes bad smell in the bathroom, the antivac allows air into the pipe and breaks the suction thus keeping the water in the trap and prventing the bad smells,

thanks tom.say both p traps for kitchen waste are same price should you just get the anti syphon for peace of mind or is there no point if you have no gurgling or problems.

If there are no problems just use an ordinary trap, anti vac's have moving parts, so thats something that can go wrong, ordinary traps have nothing to go wrong, but if they are the same price and you like value for money, It make no differance,
