So, I'm not gas safe.
I got called out yesterday to a dripping pipe. Was told it was an overflow.
Got to house, it's the condensate pipe out of wall from a Glow Worm easicon 28 combi boiler.
My questions are:-
Neither the LL or the tenant can locate the benchmark cert that they say was issued. Will building control be able to confirm if it was registered by its serial number?
The LL needs a cp12 cert done (urgent).
If it is registered then all good. Up to spec, all ok. CP12 will be done & hopefully issued.
If it not registered, what would you as a GS engineer want to carry on?
I.e. Would you want to inspect the boiler to make sure it's installed correctly? If it is, would you then do a CP12? Would you need to register the boiler with gas safe yourself? (For a fee).
If it's not up to spec would you list what needs rectifying & provide a quote & not do the CP12?
Would you walk away?
Other options.
The boiler is 2 yrs old. The house is spotless. Tenants ok.
The LL doesn't live locally & is a lovely old lady in her late 70's who may have been swindled so id like to try to help her out if she has.
I can find a GS person locally easily but I'd like to know the options/way forward before I make s call.
Thx for reading

there's a lot of scaremongery among the gas boys, they make up laws to get more work and charge for nothing, when i was gassafe this is what I'd do,
I'd do a service and make sure its safe then issue the certs, whether its been notified or not does not matter, that only matters when the house comes up for sale and the owner says " its got a new boiler" they use the notification as proof of new boiler, If she says I dunno how long the boilers been in, there's no need to go looking for notifications,
the notifation system is to let councils know what improvements you have had done, So that in the future they will set your council tax with the standard of your house, its fuck all to do with safety, smiley-violent001 hammertime

Thanks Tom.
I agree the GS people try to think they're elite.
So it's a service/inspection & if all on issue a cert.
Lovely, that's what I'll ask someone to do then.
Thx again
Best forum this.
I'm thinking if driving to Wigan at some time to meet up!
