Advice needed, hot tap on the bathroom basin had stopped working, thinking it was going to be a five minute job I got a pack of new tapwashers, turned off the hot supply, took off the plastic cap , an cannot undo the handle retaining screw as the slot in the head of the screw is all chewed up, the tit that lived here before me must've been a right twat, any helpful advice would be a godsend. Btw the bath hot supply to the bath is fine.

they can be a real pain Paul, If its a metal tap, heat it up with your blow torch but be carefull, if that don't work all i suggest is get a new set from shitfix for about £12, a lot of times its easier to change than repair and the wife will love you for it,

If you don't want to swap the taps, I've drilled through the centre of the screw before with increasing sizes of metal bits from about 2mm until the head pops off the screw. If you're careful enough you can do it without damaging the tap cartridge and once the head's off the screw will come out easily with pliers or similar, even if you do bugger up the cartridge a new one is pretty cheap.
