JJ - That normally signifies (OL) Open line or open circuit since the circuit isn't complete.

They're handy. Same spec & cheaper; www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222375399576 Though CAT 3 they're a bit limited for testing. A Multimeter can be a PITA to hold, but if you stick a magnetic strap to one you can hang it in most locations.

I would be interested in a link to a quality adjustable magnetic strap for equipment support Dick, cause I've lost a few good pieces of equipment to gravity and my carelessness. Mind that suppliers feed back for the meter doesn't seem trouble free, were as Screwfix will change an item and not even open the box, which quite often keeps me going back to them.

All glued up. I think the Fluke multimeter strap is over £20!!!........Mine about £3.

I use a couple of these magnetic hooks I bought off eBay and a tie-wrap around my meter Attachment Deletedbut it's not perfect but your set up sounds worth a try.
