Before now I've managed to just undo the whole lot, turn the tap handle anti clockwise until it stops then get a persuader on it and it comes out with the cartridge, lots easier to split once they're in your hands rather than stuck on the bath. I have also snapped one of the four sticky out parts (spindles?) of the handle on some stubborn taps similar to those when trying to pressure it off from below with adjustables. I always intend to get one of those easy tap splitters but then always bottle it when I see the price, if I remember right they're 40 notes for what probably costs about £1.50 to make. A bit like fugi silicone formers, I always stopped short of paying a tenner for 20p's worth of plastic until I used another plumbers fugi and they're bloomin brilliant so coughed up the tenner next time I was in poofix

Hi Astra, I may not have been clear enough. I have removed the tap handle together with the bell housing and tap cartridge away from the body of the tap by turning the whole lot. Think about it, the tap handle stops when the jumper in the cartridge reaches the top, continue to turn the tap handle past where it stops and it undoes the cartrodge and all comes out in one piece. You now have the tap top parts away from the bath and can work on them much easier, not had to do it many times, but it can work and no need to buy any extra tools. Use something like a tap backnut spanner to hold the tap body as you definitely don't want to loosen something underneath.

Thanks for the advice on the price but don't take it personally we all have those moments "I call it living".
Most importantly how did it perform on the job for you?
