Is the washing machine on an external wall Rocket? Might be easier to core drill a hole and put a new waste pipe through, rather than thread a hose all the way though those units??

If you do extend the hose, make sure it rises from the washing machine, then has a continuous fall to the waste. According to manufacturers, the pump is rated to pump the original length of hose, so having a continuous fall on it after the initial rise won't put any extra strain on the pump. I had to phone Indesit at a customers request to make sure that extending the hose wouldn't affect the guarantee and they said the guarantee would be void if I didn't do it that way. Your original idea would work but you'd get some funky smells coming from the machine as there would be no trap. The self tapping spigot that endfeed posted has a mechanical trap in it, like a hepvo, ideal if you can't get a proper spigot trap in like Tom posted.
